Gothic style: antique elegance in the interior

If you want to get to know a person better, then pay attention to his home, the style of which is formed in accordance with his worldview. Against the background of any design, the Gothic style is distinguished by its originality, originality and preference for dark tones, among which black dominates, but burgundy and violet are also used. Salad, pink and white colors are less common, but they are not added in order to please the eye. Only the person who really likes the enchanting atmosphere of the Gothic culture will want to rebuild the interior of his home. It must necessarily have something unique and a little gloomy, because, in the opinion of the Goths, there is even romanticism in death.

You cannot make Gothic style in a small apartment or in a small country house, since to create such a design you need the space of a country house or an elite apartment.

Although this style implies a large height of the room, nevertheless its use is possible and not with very high ceilings.

Materials you need to create a style

The concept of "Gothic style" is relatively new, although it began to develop in the XII century, therefore, to create it, you will need materials that the Goths used at one time. This is a tree and roughly processed stone. Of course, few will use original materials. Because for this you need to make a castle in a medieval style, and not everyone needs it, but the use of such materials for decoration will help to achieve the desired result.

Gothic lights

Since the Gothic style has not lost its relevance, the lamps created in this style are perfect in order to create a medieval atmosphere with their help. There are relatively few types of small demand that are produced, and often in single copies, so it is possible to create an original interior that emphasizes individuality. However, even if the lamp is designed exclusively for the Gothic style, this does not mean at all that it is suitable for any design. In each case, an individual approach is required.

Attention is paid not only to lighting, but also to lighting and lighting effects, with the help of which the special mystery inherent in Gothic is created. In addition, lamps in the Gothic style contribute to the creation of original, full of harmony and comfort of the interiors.

Windows and arches

A distinctive feature of the Gothic style is the use of upward-looking windows and similar arches. Openwork turrets and ornaments can be used as decor, the use of which is very characteristic of a peculiar Gothic style, therefore it cannot be confused with other styles. The atmosphere of the room is filled with grandeur and grace. Windows can be decorated with ornaments or stained glass. Modern Gothic style tends to resemble medieval castles, and since more attention is always paid to windows and arches, these elements play an important role in creating the style. The main thing to remember is that the task is not to remodel the housing into a medieval castle or temple, but to bring the medieval style as close as possible, making an elegant layout of modern materials.

Furniture

It is also important to pay attention to furniture to get a harmonious picture.

Gothic furniture includes sideboards with high legs, double-leaf cabinets with six panels, beds and chairs with high backs. Only wood furniture is acceptable and should be decorated with carvings. In addition, massive furniture is selected. Such an interior is heavy, with a lot of exquisite details, and is perceived rudely. If possible, then not only windows, but also doors should be made in the Gothic style.

Ceiling

A distinctive feature of the Gothic style, in applying this style to the ceiling, is the attraction up. Of course, it’s good when one thinks about it while designing the building, but if the ceiling is not too high, then using stucco molding, creating the vault effect, as well as a device with open decorated rafters, will help to give it a “Gothic” look.

Accessories

Sculptures of various mythical creatures, lions, draperies, paintings or armor of a knight can serve as accessories.

Although the Gothic style is perceived by many as “retro”, as you immerse yourself in the old days, it is still a modern style, because now monumental and majestic Gothic buildings are not being built. It only helps to create a sense of antiquity, and when it reaches its maximum effect, it allows you to admire the result, as if we were transported to the ancient era. However, with all the desire to decorate the interior in the Gothic style, given all the canons, it is almost impossible, because Gothic is a real style of castles, which needs a lot of space, but it is not in most cases. Therefore, gothic fans have to use style techniques in order to give the interior gothic features.
